OChaCha Food Event Outing

ladyironchef organised a food event outing to OChaCha this evening. Thanks to Sok Peng, I was able to attend this great event!

Basically, you get to try everything (if not at least most of the food offered in store) for a reasonable price of $17.50.

The food is served in this way, you’ll get to try the different types of green teas. Followed by a soup of your choice, either tomato or mushroom soup. You’ll then try the 3 different sandwiches. After that, they served the deserts. The event ended off with a cup of green tea each.

Food that I tried

  • OChaCha Rocks – Good authentic green tea.
  • OChaCha Latte – Good too, but I feel that it’s a bit siap siap, rough on the tongue, like after you had a bottle of Yakult.
  • Azuki Freezzie – Ice Blended green tea with azuki (a.k.a japanese red bean). Good combination, surprisingly not as sweet as I expect.
  • Mushroom Soup – I’m not a big fan of Mushroom, slightly salty though.
  • XXX Salad – I don’t have the correct info, shall wait for ladyironchef’s information.
  • Sakura Egg Sandwich – Simple and good.
  • Wasabi Tuna Sandwich – Can be heavier with the wasabi, if not, just like a normal tuna sandwhich.
  • Furitake Salmon Sandwich – Tasty salmon.
  • Matcha Azuki – Matcha with azuki in between the layers. The matcha toppings look like trees in the condominum show room models, should call the cake green forest!
  • Matcha Cotton – Good one, cream inside matcha cake.
  • Financier – According to LadyBoss, it’s french pastry in matcha flavour. I don’t like the strong taste of egg
  • Matcha Panna Cotta: Taste good, but too much of it, can get sick of it. Recommend that you share with another.
  • Tzu Thé Tropical Fruits T-Bar: Green tea nutrition bar, haven’t eat it yet.
  • Matcha Latte (Warm) – Matcha with milk. Taste of milk is pretty strong, can’t taste much of green tea.
  • Matcha Silk (Warm) – Matcha with soymilk. Soymilk tastes even stronger than milk.

I’m no expert in green tea or food, but these are just my personal opinions.

One thing I really like is the bread! Taste very good on its own and is well toasted too. To sum it up, I would like to have a Matcha Rock with Sakura Egg Sandwich and a Matcha Cotton as desert.

Of the above I’ve tried, the salad and nutrition bar were complimentary, courtesy of LadyBoss. Her explanations on the food gave me a better insight.

The nice people

In total, there’s around 18 to 20 people attended this event. I believe many of them are bloggers who’re into good food. Some brought their friends along… Most of them are armed with a SLR, so envious of them. Once the food is served, cameras are all out, snap snap snap, like celebrity can! They’re all very friendly people, could have been more sociable and make more friends.
