Growing Your Mafia
Size does matter, especially in the case of Mafia Wars. The bigger your clan, the more powerful it is. When everyone out there is recruiting people, you have to at least keep up with them to win. Now, here’s how to do it.
The idea is to keep growing your mafia; join mafia groups, keep adding people, keep sending invitations. Allow others to add you, by leaving messages on group walls.
There’s a problem though. Adding strangers as friends, just for Mafia Wars sounds absurd. In fact, it is pretty risky. Because your new ‘friend’ would be able to view your information and photos. Your privacy will be invaded.
A friend of mine said, he don’t think there will be possibly anyone that can bother to look through his information. Nevertheless you should be careful with your personal information, safe guard it.
The key lies in your privacy settings. You can exclude the mafias from view your information, by putting them into a list and editing your privacy settings.
The details are listed below.
Creating a new friend list.
- Click Friends
- Click All Friends
- Create New List
- Enter the desired name for the list, e.g.; Mafia Wars
- Click Create List
- Click Create
Customise your privacy settings
- Click Settings
- Click Privacy Settings
- Click Profile
- At Basic Information, select customize
- Under Except These People, enter Mafia Wars
- Click Okay
- Repeat for the rest of the sections (album privacy included), and contact information.
Start adding mafias
- Search for Mafia Wars
- Join a group that has a lot of members
- On the group wall, leave this message:
http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=<YOUR_USER_ID> - Start adding people as your friends, while putting them in your Mafia War friends list.
Note: If you start to add friends too fast, while repeatedly sending the same message. Facebook may send you a warning message. It’ll think that you’re sending out spam.
To obtain your Mafia Wars invite URL go to the Mafia Wars home page and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see your invite URL in green, right above the phrase “Out of Invitations…” and a button reading “Set Status . To set your status so that your invite URL appears on the Wall of your profile page, copy the URL, paste it into the box and click the “Set Status” button. Once you set your status you will receive a link that looks like this:”

You can check if you have done it correctly by viewing your profile as someone else’s account. Try it at the Profile Privacy page.
Once you complete the above steps, you’ll be able to grow your mafia, while preventing strangers from viewing your information and photos.
